Leaders in Training (LIT)
Purpose: The Leaders in Training at Camp iHope is designed to educate and train young men and women to become effective leaders
Objectives:
By the end of the program, all participating LITs will have:
• Actively participated in daily activities focusing on developing leadership skills
• Planned and executed a service project
• Assisted with administrative, programming and general staff duties
• Observed a variety of different activity areas
• Observed appropriate counselor/staff interaction with campers
• Assisted with cabin duties
Methods:
• Daily participation in in leadership activities /seminars with fellow LITs, mentors, and supervisors
• Completion of daily assigned activities
• Supporting activities, special events
• Participating in the planning, design, and execution of a service project
• Evaluation, feedback, and assessment from peers, supervisors, and self
Role:
The LIT role at camp is to learn about the overall program and develop leadership skills
Responsibilities:
• Campers Come First! Set a good example by being a positive role model.
• Complete assigned activities and assist Program Staff with daily activities
• Complete Service Project
• Assist Camp Counselors with programming, administrative or general activities as assigned
• Be punctual, attend and be an active part of all camp activities, participants must be able to:
• Abide by all rules, policies and procedures
• Treat all campers equally, there should be no favorites
• Be cooperative with the camp leaders, counselors, your peers, and the campers.
• Be enthusiastic and have a positive attitude
Specific Duties:
• Complete assigned daily tasks
• Assist program staff as directed by LIT Coordinator
• Complete Service Project
• Provide a good example
• Contribute ideas to improve the program
• Report any unsafe actions by children or other staff to the Counselors
• Assist in cleaning and disposing of trash, dining hall clean up
• Demonstrate ability to accept supervision and guidance
• Demonstrate good character, integrity, and adaptability
• Set a good example for campers and others, including cleanliness, punctuality, sharing duties, cleanup after meals
• Respect each camper for their uniqueness
• Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by LIT Coordinator, Camp Director
