Volunteer Application Information: Must Read

Dear Potential Volunteer:

Thank you for your interest in applying to be a volunteer at Camp iHope 2020, to be held at Collin County Adventure Camp in Anna, TX.  Camp iHope (#bestweekoftheyear!) serves children with cancer and their siblings between the ages of 7 & 16. We are relying on people like you to make this week a fun and memorable experience for our kids.  While this is a volunteer position, it is a very serious job for one special week during the summer.  Parents and the Camp iHope leadership team are entrusting you to provide a safe, fun, and memorable environment in which our campers will experience the joys of camp.
General Expectations:
To ensure the safety of our campers, all new and returning volunteers will undergo a background check.  If selected, volunteer staff will not have visitors during the camp week unless cleared by the camp directors.
In addition, all volunteers will refrain from using tobacco, drugs (including marijuana) or alcohol at all times while on the campsite.  If this rule is violated, the volunteer will be asked to leave the campsite and not return.  Any knowledge of these activities must be reported to the camp directors immediately.
Camp staff (excluding day volunteers & medical staff) are required to attend the entire week of camp which begins on Saturday June 20 and ends on Friday June 26 mid-afternoon.  A mandatory orientation takes place on Saturday and Sunday morning.  Campers arrive on Sunday afternoon!
General Eligibility:
Volunteers for camp must be 19 years of age, graduated from high school and be at least one-year post graduation (excluding applicants for the LIT/CIT Program.)  Previous experience working with children is helpful, but not a requirement.  New applicants will be contacted for an interview.  By completing the application and seeking a volunteer position all applicants are authorizing Camp iHope to complete a criminal background check.
Application Deadlines:
Application deadline is Friday, March 30, 2020.  Selected volunteers will be notified of acceptance via email by 4/27/20.
To apply:
Access the application through the Camp iHope website at www.campihope.org. Choose Get Involved from the menu bar, then from the drop-down menu, choose Apply. You will be linked to the CampDoc registration site. New Volunteers: When you enter your email address, you will be directed to set-up a new account.  Returning Volunteers: Enter your email address & password from last year to access your account. Password retrieval help is available.
The next step will ask you to register for a session as camp staff, the next screen will offer a Protection Plan (offered to all CampDoc clients-it is not required by Camp iHope) once accepted or declined, hit continue and proceed to the confirmation screen. On this screen, you will see your name with $0 dollar tuition listed. Click confirm on this screen and you will be directed to the remainder of the application.
For returning volunteers, portions of your application will be pre-populated with last year’s information, please review carefully & confirm the information is still valid or edit.
If you are signing up to help with a specific day and/or program, please follow the same process, but choose the day volunteer option.
Selection Process:
While we would like to include every applicant, who wishes to come to camp, selections will be made by the Camp Directors based on several factors.  These include identified needs of the camp program, skill set of the applicant to meet needs, and number of applications received.  Applicants may find themselves on a "waiting list" or not invited to attend.  This is not necessarily a reflection on the applicant, but rather a reflection on the needs of the program for that summer/event.
Camp would not be possible without people like you! Thank you for your interest in volunteering!
If you have any questions, please email info@campihope.org
